Apunix's Tape Subsystems use 4mm cassettes compatible with all DDS-2, DDS-C, and DDS tape formats. Included with the DAT drive is the DDS standard hardware compression chip yielding tape capacities of up to 8 GB per tape. The tape subsystems come with Apunix's Network Backup Daemon(TM) Software Pack, one data tape, and one cleaning cartridge. Also available is Apunix's FarTool(TM), a tar-compatible program that uses the DAT tape drive's ability for tape partitioning, and QFA (quick file access). Archived files can be accessed in just minutes and safely updated using the hardware tape partitioning. Benchmarks have shown FarTool to provide 20 to 300 times improvement in retrieval time over conventional archiving programs.
